Education Tip for Teachers: Disregard pre-conceived ideas about individual students based on rumor or hearsay. Give all your students a "fresh start" at the beginning of a new school year.

Homework is an integral part of school, and teachers give it on a regular basis. As a student, you are expected to complete all assignments within the timeframe that they require. Most assignments are given on a daily basis; some, such as research projects, span a longer time frame. And then there are others that will be given in which you will have 2 or more days to complete. Please listen carefully to the instructions and write them down in your assignment pad. All students, in order to be adequately prepared for class, should have an assignment pad. Please students, don't commit to remembering assignment to memory because you will forget them! When a teacher gives a homework assignment, get out your assignment pad and write it down at that very moment. If you have a question, you will want to be sure to ask your teacher. Assignment pads should be a small notebook or agenda type item that is used only for that purpose.

Teachers expect every student to do his or her very best. If you have any questions, please ask! The only questions I cannot answer are the ones that are never asked. As a gentle reminder: parents are never supposed to do your homework for you! I encourage you to ask them for guidance only if you don't know what to do and have exhausted all resources. (Please see the Student Procedures Manual for instructions on how to "exhaust all resources.")
