The Top 10 Reasons why I like driving for Epes Transport System
  1. I get home on weekends.

    “Getting home on weekends” means I arrive back at my home (not my home terminal) sometime between noon on Friday and noon on Saturday. My arrival depends on where I deliver a load on Friday, what hours I have available to run that day, and general driving conditions.

    Depending on Monday’s delivery location and appointment, I generally leave home sometime between Sunday afternoon and early Monday morning.

    Epes makes every effort to ensure that I get home for some part of the weekend. That’s important to me as a driver and to my family. I know that when I leave home early in the week, I’ll be back home again at the end of the week. If you have a life outside of driving like I do-and if you live within their hiring area-Epes Transport can “get you home on weekends” too.

  2. I drive late model, well-maintained equipment.

    My truck enables me to deliver freight for our customers on time. Because I like to run hard and earn a good paycheck, I need equipment with maximum up-time. Breakdowns put a lot of unneeded pressure on all concerned but are especially unnerving for drivers because it affects our paychecks; every minute spent sitting in a shop represents a minute not rolling down the road.

    Epes Transport believes so much in maintaining its own equipment that it no longer allows drivers to get some maintenance work done on the road. Our shops can do the jobs right the very first time and less expensively than it can be done elsewhere. With that kind of commitment, I know I’m in good hands. Don’t you deserve the same?

  3. I’m treated with respect, like a member of the family.

    Epes Transport proves that they care about drivers by pairing them with driver managers who work with them. This keeps driver turnover to a minimum. I like that. Keith, my driver manager, is a great fit for me.

    • He has time for me when I call or stop by the terminal;
    • He responds quickly when I send a message via Qualcomm requiring a response;
    • He has, most importantly to me, only 35 drivers in his fleet, thereby allowing him to know each of us personally.

    Isn’t it time you had a driver manager and company that can get you home when you need to be there, is responsive to your needs, and truly wants you to succeed? After all when you succeed, the company also succeeds; it’s a two-way street.

  4. Epes Transport Systems has built a rock-solid, reliable and trustworthy customer service record spanning 78 years (1931-2009).

    How many trucking companies can say that? Shippers trust Epes Transport to deliver their freight because we are dedicated to providing quality transportation services and our mission is to continuously improve the quality of our service to meet and exceed the needs of our customers. Epes is a truckload common and contract carrier with 48-state authority, covering the Eastern two thirds (2/3) of the U.S. with over 700 power units and 1900 vans. We’re growing and we’d love to have you join us.

  5. We’re big enough to get you miles and small enough to care about you personally.

    When I want some big miles, I get them. When I want to slow down a little, I can. Furthermore, I don’t have to send in lots of extraneous information every day that takes up time I could be spending driving down the road.

    When I first started driving professionally, I was with a company that treated its drivers like raw meat. You know the type, the ones that call you by your driver number or code. When Keith was first assigned to me as my driver manager, I only needed to give him my truck number twice. But I don’t have to do that any more. He knows me by name. When was the last time your driver manager cared enough about you to call you by name?

  6. No forced dispatch to NYC or Canada.

    If I don’t want to go to New York City, the Island, or the boroughs, I don’t have to be forced under that load. But if I choose to take it, I get paid an extra $125!

    If I don’t want to go to Canada, I don’t have to be forced under that load. But if I choose to take it, I get paid an extra $75!

    Can you say the same thing about your carrier?

  7. Wait time pay after the first 2 hours.

    If I get detained at a shipper or consignee for more than 2 hours when I arrived on time for my appointment, there’s an extra $10 per hour that I get paid. Epes is working hard to get drop-and-hook loads for me and our other drivers. If they can’t get me a drop-and-hook load, then the planners try to plan a load where the driver doesn’t sit for more than 2 hours. After all, how much money do you make when your wheels aren’t rolling?

  8. Driver-friendly technology.

    Epes Transport utilizes PrePass, which allows me to bypass scales that are equipped with this system. Stopping at scales is almost a thing of the past.

    Because company trucks are equipped with Qualcomm mobile communications terminals, you don’t have to use the phone to get a new work assignment, access directions, or find out how big your paycheck will be that week.

  9. Getting paid sooner.

    Because Epes Transport System uses Trip Pack and Trans Flo scanning technology at Petro, Pilot, Love’s, Wilco/Hess, and Travel Centers of America, I get paid that week on any trip I get scanned in by Tuesday 12 noon. I don’t have to wait for the mail.

  10. Driver referral bonus.

    Epes Transport pays a handsome bonus to those who refer qualified drivers to them: $750 for a qualified driver, or $1,500 for a qualified team. In 2008, Epes paid a lot for drivers and their referrals.

    Since you’ve taken the time to read the “Top 10 Reasons why I like driving for Epes Transport System,” I’d appreciate it if you would mention my driver code

    SIMMI
    when you call and speak with our friendly recruiting department. That way, when Epes Transport System hires you, I’ll get paid for referring you! That’s what this page is all about.

I look forward to personally meeting you and welcoming you aboard.
